Someone made the comment reciting WTS as saying they only look after their elderly retired servants.Well i have 24 episodes of Father Ted that says they are not the only ones!

Does anyone know what happens to full-time JW's(DO's, CO's, Missionaries, Special pioneers, etc) when they reach old age?
by african GB Member ini am just wondering since these people never work a secular job.
is there some sort of an arrangement from the society to care for them?
presuming they don't even have children of their own to look after them when they are old..

Jehovah's witness meetings are NOT BORING......
by punkofnice in...i was told but they usually were as i look back.. as a lad i'd sit and look to see who the lights would fall on.
i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.
i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

One of the funniest moments at my old KH apart from the PO getting decked on the platform was a young teenage sister making a comment in the WT study .
The answer was in reference to problem jews had with gentiles in the 1st century. She gave her answer about the Un-circumsised Genitals! My mate was taking the WT study he just burst out laughing the WT reader was almost crying and coudnt even read for a few minutes.Ive never seen a cong so animated and happy. Hey wait on maybe they should have comedians give talks !....hey oh thats right they already do but their not funny.

I've Decided That It'll Be Best For Me To Return To The Kingdom Hall.
by Philadelphia Ponos inafter carefully evaluating the my current life situation, i've come to the conclusion that returning to the hall will be best for me.
i simply just don't fit in with the rest of the world.
i don't drink, smoke, have sex, go to clubs, listen to worldly music, watch movies, or gamble.

Well mate the real bottom line is this ... religion is a personal decision its up to you.you sound low from what sounds like a crap job, saying that tho in these financially stressed times a crap jobs better than no job at all.you will of course recieve a warm welcome back into the fold of a congregation and that will last awhile. be aware full confession will be expected of you , that means telling them every detail of the naughty pictures you have looked at and any inevitable action you may have performed, its a very embarrasing thing to have to sit thru let alone be the one telling it.I really think some get their jollies out of questioning sexual activity of others.......errr sick! take time to think seriously about the pros and cons of going back and your life now.Man i even went to the meeting when they DF me and i went for a couple of weeks before i realized the elders didnt want me back and ignored my misguided pleas for help. remember the things you have read and a little leven spoils the whole lump.is the modern day JW leven or fine flour?you need to answer that for yourself then you will know what to do. Good luck friend.

Man i would love to hold an "assembly" with everyone who has posted on this.it would be funny ,engaging and most importantly not boring.
i wish i had all the mags i have ever used at the meetings as my older brothers and me were influenced by Mad magazines so we would draw comics all around the edges of the page.i have to say how cool it was when an issue had pictures of fighter jets or tanks cause then it was ok to draw them cause Watchtower had it in!cant argue with that.
Did anyone else work out the 2 minute prestudy trick with watchtower study articles? the WT always has same method generally the answer is in the first sentence or the last so just quickly highlight both and chances are you have got the answer! parents thought i was always good prestudying WT , i had used this trick up till Jan when disfellowshipped as nosy elders would do mikes in WT study to see who prestudied and who didnt.i often penned blah blah blah with line circling a scripture so i looked even more diligent.
If we did organize our own assembly what would we call it?................Village of the damned?

I walked out of an Elder's Meeting
by AlmightyDog inwell here goes... i apologize in advance if this turns into a long and disjointed rant, but i just have to begin typing in order to keep from exploding.
i realize that what im about to say could seriously jeopardize my anonymity, but i think ive reached the point that i just dont care.
i want this to be over.. let me explain what caused me to rip up a letter and get up and walk out in the middle of an elders meeting two weekends ago.. our boe has been embroiled in a nasty fight for the past 2 years over a certain brothers business dealings.

In my old cong a MS one of my best friends straight after the closing prayer went up to PO on the platform and punched him to the floor then gave him a kick for good mesure.my kids were in the front row and thought it was awesome.it took every effort to stop them from DF him.

Walking out..wow! that really took courage.somtimes ignorance is bliss and getting appointed only opens the veils to view what really goes on behind the scenes.by walking out you have shown those elders your a concientious objecter(something parised over and over in the society) sadly they may view it as your no longer a team player.as others have posted go the spiritual health line and visit your doctor for whatever you like but you can tell them you have seen your doctor and you need to de-stress for a while.Call this to yourself of course"buying out the opportune time"and start planning.the problem in their minds will be you know too much about what really goes on in the cong.watch out!i was in a similar situation and depression got a hold of me,i resigned due to my health ,this opened up the mental health issue and that was the beginning of the end for me and sadly i was pushed into being disfellowshipped, pushed out of my home, pushed out of contact with my three children.so please brother consider your family and plan things on your terms.read crisis of concience and be subtle with your wife as she most likely has no idea of the real workings of the cong.hopefully she will feel for your predicament and Jehovah willing she will go with your decision.Good luck friend and we look forward to hear how you go and were here to offer support.

Resigned
by Franklin Massey ini finally resigned as an elder.
my conscience wouldn't allow me to continue.
i've battled for years trying to reconcile the fallacies of the wt society with my own personal beliefs.

Good for you taking a realistic view of yourself and your religion.
Theres so much pressure on appointed brothers, i was an MS and i got flogged to almost death so some elders could take it a bit easier.I resigned rather than be sacked.
That just started the slide to them undermining my family and eventually disfellowshipping me.My advice walk away with pride.
"Everones entitled to my opinion"lol but here goes:
No one fades from JW ,in them your just a shadow of what you could be.Step out and you take on a solid form ,one that you control and has limitless potential.

In the end the decision is one for you alone to make. However well intentioned any elders interest in you they know its up to you to decide.
Use illustrations with them- liken youself to an Oak tree just sprouting it may be the slowest growing but will last for ages wheras they are forcing you to grow quicker than is normal for you and you will just burn out.Tell them your seed is sown on fine soil and you will make fine progress. They cant argue with you over that. Buy yourself some time with that and as suggested avoid a personnel bible study offer to do this yourself and when time is right you will ask for a study again. It may be a bit smartarsish but quote the scripture about "minding your own business".
In all aspects of life you need to be in control of the situation when you can of course, so say whatever is expected and plan your departure rather than allowing them to dictate your life by disfellowshipping you.Good luck friend.
